    Thanks for the feeback Phil.
    (1) Yes, it means all ok.
    (2) I will fix that for tomorrow, I know what causes the issue.
    (3) Yeah, I need to fix that.

As long as the LAN adapter is the RR-NET, then no problem.

I’m NTSC….. not sure what the difficulty could have been to get a flicker free screen but for the purpose of testing the underlying networking / code and game play it doesn’t matter. If anybody wants to do a facelift or help with the display later, have at it 🙂

Can you send me a XEX of a screen so I can test it on my CRT?
Instead of DLI, you could simply use 5 color screens.

I will distribute an ATR file just before the week-end, please wait a couple more days.
I experimented with 5 color maps, and it was really poor. Frankly, they look better in 4 level of grey.
So with my system (16 colors flicker or 4 greyscales) I tried to strike a compromise.
People on Altirra/LCD will benefit from a much nicer palette, and CRT can fall back to 4 level of grey.

Anthony, why don’t you use display list interrupts to have more than 5 colors on Atari? Some sprites flicker is ok but an interlaced screen hurts eyes..

Using DLIs means tons of work on each map, which unfortunately I do not have, as well as game slow down. I have opted for a modified version of XLPaint, by flickering the whole screen between 2 palettes (RGB and BW).

This works well in Altirra (Frame Blending) and on LCD screens (Flicker barely noticeable).

For CRT screens, it is really bad, so I have added an option to disable flicker and just display the BW palette. You can see some examples attached below.

Good to see this first wave of testers!
I plan to host the first round of testing on Sunday 14/01, morning time for Europe.
I will send you guyz a copy of the game in advance.

Note: CRTs are good for C64, the problem is only for Atari as I use an interlaced graphics mode.

C64 + 1541u1+ nit sure if the lan is compatible enough

Sadly the 1541ultimate’s Ethernet Port is not RR-Net Compatible.
Gideon advertised it initially, but never got round to implementing it.
    Maybe if you remind him…

    Thanks Phil!
By the way, what time of screen to you use, LCD or CRT?
I am using a modified XLPaint mode in Slicks, which works better with LCDs.

    Thanks for registering guys!
Did you verify that the program UDP-Test is working for you?
Also, please tell me which system you are using (C64+RR-Net or Vice)?
