rupyParticipantThe reason I bought a RR-Net was to be able to hot-load .prg from my PC.
Getting out the SD card and all that jazz is so last decade.
Can you make a “one map” .prg for that purpose?
February 22, 2019 at 9:50 am #624
rupyParticipantOr even better load the map over the network!?

8bit-DudeKeymasterThe maps take a fiull disk, so no way to cram this into a prg.
Streaming maps is not impossible, but would work only for network games.
I may consider this in future (net only maps)…January 17, 2020 at 12:10 pm #721
rupyParticipantI just discovered that Rainbow Islands has the first levels in the .prg, just pick one map and bundle it with the .prg that way you can hot-load the .prg!

rupyParticipantAre you going to open-source this?
I could add the one-file .prg hot-deploy if you do!- This reply was modified 4 years, 3 months ago by rupy.

8bit-DudeKeymasterThe source code is available as part of 8bit-Unity (except the network code).
It is not included to prevent the natural tendency of some people to produce hacked versions for cheating.January 23, 2021 at 11:07 pm #797
rupyParticipantHm I could not post: Error: Are you sure you wanted to do that?
I think you could release the network parts since almost nobody is playing…
January 24, 2021 at 3:15 am #798
8bit-DudeKeymasterLike I said before, if I release the network code there is immediately going to be someone who produced an “enhanced” version that will spoil the game for everyone. I just do not have the time to implement server-side counter-measures.
If all you are interested in is creating a one PRG version for local play, then you can do it from 8bit-Unity repo version. Then send me the code diff, and I will see about releasing a one PRG of the network version.

rupyParticipantDoes this use TCP or UDP?
I can hot-load the TRIAD release and it manages to load the .img files from my SD2IEC!!!
But the NETWORK INIT does not work! 🙁
Is there a port I need to open?

rupyParticipantAlso maybe you should talk to Monte Boyd:
Wait until the end of the video… when you're developing a C64 game the bugs are… quite extreme. 😅 #muddyracers #c64 #c64dev #c64game #commodore64 #commodore #retrogame #indiedev #indiegame pic.twitter.com/DNo1OOIcXT
